Born and raised in Puebla, Mexico, Israel Reyes moved to the United States with his sister at 15 and began a career in restaurants out of necessity. Over time, that necessity gave way to passion. Now he runs the kitchen at BLACKBARN.

On Saturday, August 8, BLACKBARN is taking its kitchen to the street for the first NoMad Jazz Festival Food Market. Pork belly bao, short rib sliders, and a cold Watermelon Crush on Broadway, with free jazz in Madison Square Park all afternoon.
